5/1/2023 0 Comments Quick tunes for coyote mustang![]() What you get for this device looks a little bit different than the i2 tuner, it's a little bit bulkier, it's got nice grip on the sides, a really cool plastic casing around the device. This being the i3 tuner has gotten a nice update with the actual hardware. Check engine light pops up, see that with a full description and, of course, clear those codes.Īnother feature here is to store some of those custom tunes and erase them. You can also expect a DTC code reader and the ability to clear codes. This has a couple other features, you can expect data logging capabilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, software updates via the Wi-Fi, USB connectivity to your laptop. That is gonna give you the most gains, the maximum amount of potential out of this tuner running it on the 93 tune. It alters some of your parameters to give you a nice sporty drive on the road, 91 bumps it up to a little bit more performance savvy, and then 93 is their Diablo tune or the race tune for all-out octane. DiabloSport offers a ton of additional features, in addition to actually tuning your vehicle.įirst off, let's talk about those tunes. It's not exactly what you are looking for but it's feasible with HPTuners. You should be taking a look at the i3 tuner from DiabloSport if you're looking for a quick and easy out of the box solution to tuning with preloaded tunes for 87, 91, and 93 octane. EcoBoost can have it enabled and work properly in a 85% solution at least in my situation.Īs for your question about spark advance, there are separate tables for flex fuel like the cold start table (where you will need to add more fuel during a cold start for E85) as well as the octane adjust table, etc. The 2.7 EcoBoost stock HPFP is large enough capacity that it will handle the stock turbos maxed out with full E85 (HPFP pressure looks good, injector duty cycle maxes around 30%-40%)įor the TL DR - The Coyote's seem to respond very well to enabling Flex Fuel. I suspect there is something else going on with my car, as there is a known issue with the fuel level input fluctuating on this particular platform so I have seen it switch from Fault Exit to Refueling just idling (and I didn't fill up on fuel). No such luck on the 2.7 - and the problem is that until it matures, the system disables the long term fuel trim learning as well as the purge valve operation. ![]() On my actual FFV Ford (N/A 3.5 in the Explorer) it will mature within about 15 minutes of normal driving. However the problem I am encountering is the system is in perpetual active learning mode. For instance if I fill the entire tank with E85, the stoich will drop to 9.8 and my STFT's will be very low. When I enable flex fuel, the stoich WILL adjust to accommodate. I am not sure how hard it is to enable on the Mustang EcoBoost, but I have been testing it on my 2.7 EcoBoost in the Fusion. I've seen lots of aftermarket/modified alcohol sensor systems that use the GM sensor in-line in the fuel system. The other system uses an alcohol system inline with the fuel system which GM used for awhile but has switched to the virtual/inferred system on the newer models. ![]() Yes there is latency but it seems to work. Ford always seemed to use a virtual/inferred system where it relies on wideband O2 sensors to make adjustments. Ford and GM flex fuel systems have varied from one another over the years but have become similar. In addition, adding ethanol means we are gonna run out of injectors pretty quick, so there comes an issue of additional fueling.ĭo you add a new hofp or go to port injection?Ĭlick to expand. The Coyote is flex fuel in the F-150s (enabled by default) but it seems the Mustang GT owners can turn it on very easily with HP Tuners.Ī little clarification of Flex Fuel systems being used. IE I would give up cruise control if I had to. ![]() The Coyote doesnt have a provision to run that signal to the ecu unless you go to a standalone ecu, but the Ecoboost ‘should have’ a way to run that input even if its in place of something thats already there. The flex fuel tune Im talking about and the only kind that should be allowed to call a flex tune is with an actual ethanol analyzer like the Continental one that gives you a signal that the ecu reads and adjusts fuel AND TIMING according to the actual amount of ethanol in the system. These ‘fake’ flex tunes use an O2 sensor to add or remove fuel!Ĭan you even imagine that? Do you know how much latency there is? A lot! Very different from an actual limited slip. Kind of like the oem’s marketing electronically limited differentials when all they do is apply brakes to the wheel thats spinning. They call them that because it faintly resembles a flex tune but its not. ![]()
